How to spend a day in Hamburg | Easter at East

So, Easter is over and we decided to celebrate it at East in Hamburg, Germany. A foxing good-looking hotel with an amazing restaurant that blew us away. Martin is the only fox with a driver’s license, so he had to do the driving from Aarhus to Hamburg, but fortunately it’s no more than a three and a half hour drive, costing less than 27 €, so it’s an easy and cheap drive. Especially with DJ Monja sitting in the passenger seat. We actually recommend any couple to do a getaway like this every once in a while. The travel is good fun, you get to experience new things and it doesn’t have to take more than...

Great dessert place in Bangkok | After You Dessert Café

We’ve been to a lot of dessert places in Bangkok (which is awesome), but doing so has taught us something about desserts in Thailand that is less than awesome (awe-not-so-much?): looks can be very deceiving. For some reason a lot of the dessert places here care more about, how to make the desserts look good, instead of, how to make them taste good. Very short-sighted business strategy. Yes, the good-looking cakes may attract a few new customers, but it’s hard to imagine that it would actually generate any regulars, once people realize that the cakes taste like unflavored butter. Unless you like unflavored butter.. Personally we like the cakes that are good-looking AND tasty at the...

Where to eat in Bangkok | Som Tam Nua

Anyone who has ever been to Thailand knows what we’re talking about, when we say that you get great service everywhere in this country. No matter where you go, you’ll be greeted with a wai and a big smile. It’s extremely difficult to find a place, where this isn’t the case. Still, we managed to find that place in Siam. Som Tam Nua has restaurants located in Siam Square and in Siam Center. You’ll recognize Som Tam Nua from a waiting staff that consists of a bunch of teenagers with this too-cool-for-school attitude that apparently forces them into caring more about keeping their hair as sticky as sticky rice than caring about serving the customers. We’ve been...

The best coffee in Aarhus | La Cabra Coffee, Aarhus

Imagine that you are strolling down the street and the following thought hits you: “I feel like getting one of the best cups of coffee in the country today”. Most places it would prove difficult to actually accomplish said thought. Not if you’re in Aarhus. We mentioned in our post about W Bangkok that we love eating. That’s true, we do, but we forgot to mention that we also love great interior design and amazeballs coffee – but who doesn’t? Luckily for us, La Cabra in Aarhus has both. The coffee place almost looks as great as the coffee tastes. And the coffee is flawless. The interior consists of a great mixture of cobber and wood, which...
